Dec 10, 2018Thanksgiving.In Burlington and Mebane, Thursday’s and Friday’s garbage routes will be run Wednesday, Nov. 21.Mebane’s recycling route will run Friday, and Friday’s will run Saturday.In Graham, Wednesday’s and Thursday’s routes will be collected Wednesday, and Friday’s routes will be collected Monday.In Gibsonville, Thursday’s routes will be collected Wednesday, and Friday’s routes will be collected Monday.All county libraries will be closed Thursday, and the May Memorial, North Park and Mebane libraries will be closed Friday.The county landfill also will be closed Thursday and Friday, all operations.The N.C. Department of Transportation is suspending most road and lane closures on interstates, U.S. and N.C. routes through Monday morning. Local roads might have closures or lane restrictions that remain in place Drivers can check on the status of the highways they plan to use at DriveNC.gov and can get updates during daytime by calling 511.DOT advises drivers to:Leave early to get a head start, and travel at nonpeak hours if possible. Wednesday afternoon/evening and Sunday afternoon/evening will see the heaviest traffic, especially on interstates;Use alternate routes when possible to avoid congestion;Allow extra travel time regardless of the route chosen;Travel at normal waking times, and take frequent breaks to avoid drowsy driving;Don’t do anything distracting, such as texting; andWear seat belts, all drivers and passengers.  ...
